The Glory Days album contains a special tribute to John White, an exceptional footballer who was part of the Glory Days and nights at White Hart Lane. He was part of the Spurs team that was the first English team to complete the double in 60/61. Their names are celebrated in the song as well.

John died at an early age as a result of being struck by lightning whilst playing golf. A devastating loss to the 'double' winning side of Tottenham Hotspur.

'The White Butterfly' is a must play for all Spurs fans,
John was also know as 'The Ghost'..............

THE WHITE BUTTERFLY - Sung by Rox Clayton-Scott
Copyright 2006 Cringe Music

IF YOU POUR ME A WHISKY
I KNOW THAT IT'S RISKY
I'LL TELL YOU A STORY
A SAD LAST GOODBYE
OF A BOY WHO CAME RUNNING
IN SEARCH OF THE GLORY
THE LEGEND THAT I CALL THE WHITE BUTTERFLY

HE LOOKED SO YOUNG AND INNOCENT
ON THE WARM SEPTEMBER NIGHT
BUT THE SKILL WITH WHICH HE PLAYED THE GAME
SET THE WHITE HART LANE CROWD ALIGHT

SOON HE WAS PART OF THAT WHITE HART LANE KINGDOM
GLIDING THE GREEN LIKE A GHOST FROM THE SKY
APPEARING FROM NOWHERE
HE CAME ON THE BLIND SIDE
THE MEMORIES FLOOD BACK WITH THE WHITE BUTTERFLY

THEY WON THE DOUBLE LEAGUE AND CUP
THEY WERE FIRST IN EUROPE TOO
JOHN WHITE'S THE MAN I SING ABOUT
HE HAD SO MANY MORE THINGS TO DO

THERE WAS BROWN,MAURICE NORMAN,
RON HENRY AND BAKER,
BLANCHFLOWER, ALLEN AND DAVEY MCKAY
CLIFF JONES BOBBYSMITH AND THE YOUNG TERRY DYSON
THE LEDGEND THAT I CALL THE WHITE BUTTERFLY

HE WENT TO PLAY GOLF
ON A GREEN DOWN IN ENFIELD
JOHN WAS TO YOUNG AND NOT READY TO DIE
BUT HE SHELTERED FROM RAIN 'NEATH THE OLD SPREADING CHESTNUT
WHEN LIGHTENING STRUCK
FROM A COLD DARKENED SKY

THE SAINTS AND SINNERS HELD THIER BREATH
A SHINING STAR HAD GONE
BUT THEY KEPT ON PLAYING THE TOTTENHAM WAY
AND THE GLORY WENT MARCHING ON

I BORROWED THIS SONG
FROM A FINE SCOTTISH LADY
WHO HELPED ME TO SEE
PAST THE BOURBON AND RYE
WE WROTE IT THIS WAY
TO REMEMBER HER MOTHER
THE MEMORIES FLOOD BACK WITH THE WHITE BUTTERFLY.....

..... THE MEMORIES FLOOD BACK
WITH THE WHITE BUTTERFLY
